Kevin McCormick

Kevin McCormick was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Masterworks Choir in 2023 as the ensemble began its 45th concert season. He has conducted numerous performances with the choir in residence at Central United Methodist Church, as well international engagements in Ireland and Scotland. Last season Mr. McCormick led the choir in the U.S. premier of British composer Jonathan Rutherford's Seven Last Words. In 2024 he led Masterworks in the S.C. premier of Magnificat by American composer Taylor Scott Davis. 

Mr. McCormick attended Coker University where he held leadership positions in the Chamber Choir and in Coker Singers, the premier choral ensemble at the university. He was coached in conducting by his professor and mentor Dr. Will Carswell. He has an extensive background with choral ensembles, currently singing with the Masterworks Choir, often as a soloist. This past summer Mr. McCormick was chosen as one of 20 conductors from the U.S. and abroad to participate in the inaugural  Kansas City Conducting Institute, working with esteemed conductors Charles Bruffy, Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, and Dr. Janet Galvan.

Mr. McCormick holds a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from Messiah University and a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Coker University.
